She’s small but mighty—an active, playful girl who’s equally happy exploring the world or curling up right at your feet. • Foster home superstar: no accidents, sleeps through the night, and only chews her own toys 🙌
• Takes treats gently and shows no food guarding—food motivation makes training fun and rewarding 🍪
• Typical puppy energy—loves toys, walks, and playtime 🎾
• Can get a bit jumpy when excited, but settles into a total sweetheart when calm
• Velcro dog alert! She’ll happily follow you from room to room and wait patiently at your feet 🫂
• Snuggle monster who brings comfort, joy, and lots of tail wags 💛
• Active and adventurous—would thrive in a home that enjoys walks, play, and time to run 🌳
• Can be a little mischievous if left alone with extra energy—mental and physical enrichment are key 😉

At CAHW, we have a program called "Meet Your Match" that is a short questionnaire to help staff match adopters with their perfect match!

Submit Application
Applications typically take 72 hours to process, but may take longer if we are unable to complete certain aspects of the application.

Approve Application
Once an application is approved, we ask that the animal is picked up within 72 hours of the approval. Appointments must be made for pickup.

Sign Adoption Contract
At this time, the approved adopter will receive all medical information regarding the animal while in the care of CAHW.

We love photo updates for any and every animal that is adopted. CAHW does a 30 day post-adoption follow-up.

We ask that potential adopters inform their references, veterinarian office, and landlord (if applicable) that we will be calling in order to minimize the wait-time for callbacks and allow applications to be completed within the 72 hour time frame. Families are encouraged to meet with the animals several times to build a bond before adopting and while the application is being processed- this is not optional for a few of the dogs currently being housed at CAHW due to nervous energy.

We are open by appointment only from 12-4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for families actively seeking adoption. We are closed on Wednesday. All visitors require a mask for entrance and will have their temperature checked upon arrival. In following the guidelines set forth by the Governor, we are limiting adoptions to in state residents only at this time. We are also coordinating visits to ensure proper social distancing. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these uncertain times.
Donations can be dropped off 24 hours a day and put in the bin directlyoutside the front door.

Follow 33 South to 22 East. At first exit (25th Street), turn right at end of exit ramp onto 25th Street South. Follow 25th Street South (away from the malls) all the way to the end, across the Glendon Bridge. It ends at a stop sign at a "T" intersection - make a right. Go a short distance and you'll see a stone tavern on your right. Make the next right (Island Park Road). Follow this for 2.2 miles. Our shelter is on the left. Go past the old shelter building and make a left on Tumble Creek Road. Our parking lot and main entrance is on Tumble Creek Road.
From Route 22:
Follow 25th Street South (away from the malls) all the way to the end, across the Glendon Bridge. It ends at a stop sign at a "T" intersection - make a right. Go a short distance and you'll see a stone tavern on your right. Make the next right (Island Park Road). Follow this for 2.2 miles. Our shelter is on the left. Go past the old shelter building and make a left on Tumble Creek Road. Our new shelter building and entrance are on Tumble Creek Road.
From 78 East:
From I-78 East, Easton (Route 611 - Last exit in Pennsylvania), make a right at the bottom of the ramp. Go a short distance and turn right onto Industrial Drive (you will see a Shell Gas Station ahead). Go to end of Industrial Drive. Make a right at stop sign (Morvale Road). Go to bottom of the hill, make a left at the stop sign, (Berger Road). Go to the end of Berger Road and make a left onto Island Park Road. Go about 1/4 mile. Our shelter is on the left, the entrance is on Tumble Creek Road.
From 78 West (coming from NJ):
From I-78 west, cross Delaware River, go through toll booth, and take first Easton exit (Route 611). Make a left at the bottom of the ramp. Cross over top of 78. On other side of 78, make a right onto Industrial Drive (you will see a Shell Gas Station ahead). Go to end of Industrial Drive. Make a right at stop sign (Morvale Road.) Go to bottom of the hill, make a left at the stop sign, (Berger Road). Go to the end of Berger Road and make a left onto Island Park Road Go about 1/4 mile. From Bethlehem:
Follow 412 South towards Hellertown. Turn left at the curve just before Saucon Park, (toward Freemansburg). Make first right onto Applebutter Road (at sewage plant). Go 3.1 miles to first stop sign. Turn left toward Glendon. Go 1.1 miles and turn right onto Tumble Creek Road (road only turns right - this is not an intersection). Our shelter is right around the corner!

Formed in 1913, The Center for Animal Health and Welfare (formerly the Northampton County SPCA) is a private organization. We are not affiliated with any other SPCA or ASPCA. We are not a government agency, but are a non-profit organization with a 501c3 status.
In 2003 we committed ourselves to saving lives and became a no-kill shelter. We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for animals. We have improved our foster program, increased adoptions and offer a low-cost spay/neuter program.
Fund raising, donations and bequests make up 90% of our income and we apply for many grants. Adoption fees, relinquishment fees, memberships and agreements with some of the local municipalities, to take in their strays, generate the rest of our revenue. Although we greatly appreciate the help from the municipalities that do support us, not all do. Northampton County contributes about $5,000.

We are responsible for a $900,000 operating budget annually.
