Totoro is a strong-willed, independent girl who also has a sweet, affectionate, and social side.
While she is initially shy with new humans, once she gets to know you she comes out of her shell and has some of the quirkiness that black cats are known for.
Her favorite things are:
- Eating
- Pets during eating
- Churus
- Pets while eating Churus
- Play time with toys (by herself or with humans)
Totoro would be best with an adopter who is patient and willing to work with her on socialization. Even if she initially keeps her distance she likes to be in the same room as her humans, and loves to sleep at the foot of their beds.
The right adopter will appreciate how far she has come, appreciate her independence and her affection, and see her potential to blossom as part of their family.
Totoro could do well as a solo cat, with other confident cats, or even potentially with a dog.

- Spayed and fully vaccinated
- Treated for fleas and parasites
- FIV/FeLV negative
- Litter box trained

Our adoption process includes an interview, meet and greet the requested adoptee, an application and in home visit prior to approval. Our adoption fee is $150, which covers all initial exams, vaccinations, testing and spay/neuter.

PAD PAWS rescue is a non-profit organization specializing in abandoned and injured animals who have taken refuge along the Hudson River (between Battery Park/NYC and Jersey City, NJ).
