Meet Pitch! He is a 24-year-old rescue double yellow-headed Amazon. Like most Amazons, he is independent and prefers familiar faces. He has shown a preference to women, but has a few close male handlers in his circle. He prefers to communicate by serenading you with opera, but he will say hello to you. He enjoys mist baths or perching while you take a shower. He will play with toys, but prefers to forage for his favorite seeds and pistachios. His favorite place to be is on his swing or sunbathing in his outdoor aviary. He is fully flighted and does well with flight training. He currently lives with a macaw, though they are not bonded, as well as two large dogs. He has gotten quite comfortable in his own company, so he would do best with someone who can continue his training and expose him socially, or he would enjoy joining a flock where he can indulge in his natural untamed parrot instincts. Amazons can have a long life span, so experience with larger bird species and their vocalizations is a must. Can this bachelor be your new companion?
