My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🤍 BRIDGER — Former Street Tough Guy To Current Door Monitor
Age: 1–2 years
Gender: Male
Neutered: Yes
Meet Bridger, a handsome black-and-white tuxedo who survived the streets, survived the trap… and would like everyone to know he is never going in a kennel again.
Bridger came from one of our roughest trapping sites, where life was basically Survivor: Feral Cat Edition. We assumed he was feral and planned to release him after neutering. But the second he was free? Plot twist. He followed our Assistant Trapping Director around the yard like a loyal sidekick who had just chosen his human.
Turns out Bridger isn’t feral — he just despises confinement. Give him space, a soft bed, and the ability to make his own choices, and this guy FLOURISHES. At The Catty Shack, his true personality came out: chill, confident, quietly affectionate… with a tiny hiss thrown in for ✨dramatic flair✨.
Yes, he hisses when you approach.
No, he is not mad.
Yes, he will absolutely accept pets immediately after.
Yes, he will swat at you without his claws out. It’s his love pats!
Bridger does great with other cats and is part of a tight-knit group of big males we lovingly refer to as the “cat version of Brokeback Mountain.” Former street fighters turned cuddle buddies. Character development at its finest. He is not bonded necessarily, but he would do great being adopted with one of his former street buddies, Grover or Miller
His favorite hobby is sitting by the door like a tiny security guard, keeping tabs on everything. His greatest weakness? Churu treats. He will sell out all remaining street cred for one.
💛 Personality & Preferences
• Chill, confident, and low-key affectionate
• Gets along great with other cats
• Respectful with kids (dog experience unknown)
• Strongly anti-kennel, pro-freedom
• Enjoys gentle pets, snacks, and supervising his environment
🍽 Diet:
Purina One Adult Chicken (dry)
Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken (wet)
💙 FIV Info (the calm, honest version):
Bridger is FIV-positive. This simply means his immune system needs a little extra support — not that he’s sick or fragile. FIV-positive cats can live long, happy lives and can safely live with other friendly, vaccinated cats. It is not contagious to humans.
Bridger has already done the hard part — surviving the streets and learning to trust. Now he’s ready for a home that respects his independence, laughs at his attitude, and hands over the Churus promptly.

“Give me freedom, snacks, and patience — and I’ll be your loyal little shadow forever.”

More about this rescue

🐾 Our Mission at Billy the Kidden Rescue 🐾

Billy the Kidden Rescue is a VDACS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2014 and supported by a network of over 60 active foster homes across Hampton Roads.

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce the feral cat population in our community by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens—transforming them into loving, adoptable pets and placing them in safe, forever homes.

💙 Our Heart is in TNR
We are proud advocates of TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return)—the humane, effective method of managing community cats. Through this program, feral cats are:

✔️ Trapped
✔️ Neutered or Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Ear-Tipped (as a universal sign they've been fixed)
✔️ Returned to live safely in their outdoor colonies without contributing to overpopulation.

We are actively working to promote legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads.

🐱 Feral Kitten Socialization
Our feral kitten socialization program is one of a kind—with a 90% success rate in helping feral-born kittens become affectionate, in-home pets. Through experienced fostering, patience, and love, these kittens learn to trust, play, and thrive indoors.

💪 Get Involved!
We’re always looking for passionate animal lovers to join our team. Help us make a difference by becoming a:
