My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Urban, formerly named Chase is fostered in Salem, WI

Urban is a 1-year-old blue merle Australian Shepherd with a stunning coat and the most striking eyes, one blue and one brown eye.  Urban spent his early life living completely outdoors, and because of that, he’s still learning what it means to be a house dog.

When Urban came to us, he didn’t know his name or any basic commands, so it is recommended that his adopter consider some basic training courses. Urban will need continued support with potty training, as well as guidance in learning proper house manners.  He is truly a blank slate and is learning so much in his adoptive home.

The outdoors is where Urban feels most comfortable since it's what he knows best, and he truly loves being outside. He does well in his crate. Food and treats are a great motivator for him. On leash, Urban is still a work in progress and does pull a bit, so continued leash training will be important.  Urban is very much still learning how to be a dog. With consistency, patience, and routine, he will continue to gain confidence with being indoors as a pampered pet.

Urban does great with other dogs and enjoys their company.  He is learning some nice doggie language so supervision in this area is recommended when he meets other dogs.
Urban is looking for a patient, committed adopter who understands that progress takes time and is willing to invest in basic training, structure, and love. With the right guidance, Urban will grow into a wonderful companion.

Urban is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworms for any current or past pets is required to adopt from our rescue.

NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
