My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here’s our sweet Mylie!

Do you need a BFF who is loving, caring, and will love you unconditionally? The kind of companion who listens without judgment and someone who is always happy to see you even if you just went to the mailbox and back. Someone who wants to spend all their time with you and just wants to love you. Mylie is your girl!

Mylie’s story hasn’t been easy. She was found as a stray in rural Kentucky, relying on the kindness of people at a gas station who fed her when they could. One day she was struck by a car in the parking lot—but this brave girl is healed and feeling much better now. She also lost sight in one eye during her time as a stray, but it doesn’t slow her down or dim her spirit. Mylie is a survivor with a heart of gold. Hit by a car, left to fend for herself, and now fully healed — she never stopped believing in people. Now she’s waiting for the one who believes in her.

Mylie is sweetness wrapped in fur—gentle, affectionate, and truly grateful for every bit of kindness she receives. She’s a beautiful 6‑year‑old Border Collie mix with a heart as sweet as pure cane sugar. She’s the definition of love, joy, and quiet resilience. Kennel life is wearing on her. She’s getting sad, waiting day after day for someone to choose her. She dreams of a cozy home, a soft bed, and a family who will finally give her the love she deserves.

Come meet Mylie and see for yourself, she’s even more wonderful in person.

Please email Adoptions@LaManchaAnimalRescue.org to meet Mylie.

More about this rescue

Welcome to LaMancha Animal Rescue. Since 2005, we have been a qualified public charity under IRS section 501(c)3. LaMancha maintains a forty-five acre facility for rescuing dogs, cats, pigs, goats, horses, and the occasional exotic animal that requires more space or specialized knowledge than most SPCAs can offer.

We have two heated and air-conditioned kennels for dogs, each dog is housed in a run where they have indoor/outdoor access. There is a heated and air-conditioned building dedicated to cats, which is free range, no cages.

LaMancha is staffed primarily with volunteers, we currently have an active list of approximately two hundred. These volunteers care for the animals, exercise the dogs, either on walking trails, or large exercise fields. We try and take in the harder-to-place dogs, that wouldn’t have a good chance to be adopted in public shelters.

We have gained a reputation for saving and rehoming Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, known in North America as the Great Pyrenees. These large dogs are known for their gentle temperament as well as their independent streak. When you visit LaMancha, the famous “white dogs of LaMancha” are usually amongst the first to greet you.
