My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peanut — Queen of Her Castle ✨
Peanut is an adorable 8–10-year-old, 10-pound sweetheart with a gentle soul and a big story. She came to us as a stray, underweight and unsure, but with time, patience, and lots of love, she’s learned to trust again. This girl is seriously food-motivated — she’s up from 8 to 10 pounds now! — and because she has only a few teeth left after her dental, she prefers home-cooked meals over traditional dog food. (We’re pretty sure it’s a habit from her street-scrap days.)
Peanut has her quirks, but they make her who she is. She sometimes snacks right away or saves her food for later. She LOVES her morning and bedtime treats. She’s pee-pad trained (though her aim isn’t always perfect 😂) and will also go outside — as long as you go with her.
She is shy at first and needs plenty of time, patience, consistency, and a predictable routine to feel safe. Peanut has “stranger danger,” is nervous with unfamiliar people, and can be protective of her home. She’s wonderful with the dogs she lives with but not a fan of visiting dogs or guests, so she may need to be penned or crated when company comes over. No children, and no apartments — she takes her job as castle guard very seriously and has the protective barking to prove it.
When being picked up, she may yelp at first due to past trauma, but with gentle handling (we use a three-piece harness), she settles and learns to trust. Once she bonds with you, though… she’s pure magic. Peanut dances for her people, wags her tail nonstop, follows you around the house, and gives the best cuddles and snuggles — especially in bed.
She loves car rides, enjoys her walks, and fun fact: walking is the one time she doesn’t bark at people or other dogs.
Peanut needs her happily-ever-after. She’ll be a bit of work in the beginning, but the reward is immeasurable. If you have a soft voice, a loving heart, and the patience to help her shine, she’ll give you loyalty, love, and joy in return. 💛
