My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It's not every day you find a hidden gem or a diamond in the rough, well today is your lucky day. Sapphire Jewel is that and so much more, she is a true treasure just waiting for you to take her home. Her personality radiates just like that one icy blue eye of hers, she's smart, gentle, and amazing with other dogs. Sapphire is not just a good dog, she's the rare kind.

Watch her video and fall in love with this gorgeous gal: https://youtu.be/wzBIBxncP7Y?si=VAPgcptnGA7ucfFS

Sapphire Jewel is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 55 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age.

Sapphire is very dog friendly and has done great with all the dogs we have introduced her to. She has been in playgroups with upwards of 10 dogs all with different personalities and has even been used as an assessment dog from time to time. She does great when meeting new dogs and then will either play with them or will go off and do her own thing. That's what is so great about her, the way she is able adapt to the dogs around her. She can run around, have a good time and she also just as happy going off and doing her own thing while the other dogs are being wild. If she's not playing with other dogs, or off exploring in la la land, she's close to her person being a hangout girly. When Sapphire does play, she plays like a total shepherd. If you know shepherds or have ever owned one, then you know they love mouthy air play, will give nose boops where they see fit LOL, and use their paws like they are professional boxers at times. Shepherd play is definitely entertaining to say the least. She will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she's not up for play in that moment or if the play was getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment.

If you don't have other dogs, that's fine by Sapphire. She does not need the company of an other dog to help her feel comfortable or open up nor does she need another dog to help fulfill her energy needs. She is a total love bug with her people and will be completely satisfied with some play time in the back yard with her person or a walk around the neighborhood. She has also met our house cat Biggie and did really well around him as well. She was respectful around him, wasn't bothered by him running around, jumping, and they even shared affection with each other, treats, and overall space with each other. For the most part, Sapphire was very mindful around Biggie and was respectful of his space. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home with a kitty friend and things can always change once in the home. We do believe that with slow and proper introductions, she has the potential to live harmoniously with a cat in the home. If you have a cat and are interested in adopting Sapphire, please let us know and we will arrange for this sweet baby to have a sleepover with a cat.

When it comes to training, Sapphire is ready and eager to learn! She loves treats and already knows a few basic commands such a sit and she has a natural instinct of wanting to give hugs. You could probably even teach her how to dance too or even to hug on command LOL. You'll even see in her video that she does these cute tap dances for a treat and she can catch them in the air too! Sapphire is fairly easy to walk on a leash and only pulls every so often. Mainly, she'll pull towards something that smells yummy or is interesting to her, or she'll want pull towards someone to say hello to. Sapphire really does love every she meets! She responds well to correction and with consistency and practice she'll be walking like a queen on leash. Sapphire has already shown us that she understands what is means to have wonderful house manners and is crate and potty trained.

Sapphire will thrive with a semi-active family that enjoys frequent outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, going to the beach or even casual play time in the yard. A family or individual who appreciates nature and is ready to explore parks, trails, or snowy landscapes would be perfect. While she loves the great outdoors and loves to explore, Sapphire is also an affectionate gal at home and loves to burry her head into you for love. If you enjoy the outdoors but also cherish time spent relaxing indoors, Sapphire is the perfect fit. She would also do best in a home with a backyard as well. A place where she can stretch her legs, check out all of her favorite sniff spots, and roll around in the grass and sunbathe during those beautiful summer days.

We are willing to test Sapphire Jewel with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
