Meet Wiley, a 9-month-old shepherd/husky mix (our best guess!) who weighs just 33 pounds and somehow manages to pack an unreasonable amount of love, personality, and goofiness into one very handsome body. Wiley is pure puppy perfection with a big smile, expressive ears, and the kind of face that makes strangers stop mid-sentence to say, “Oh my gosh, he’s cute.” And the best part? He knows exactly how charming he is. He absolutely adores humans and has zero hesitation about showing it. If you sit down, he’s climbing into your lap. If you stand up, he’s leaning against you. If you exist near him, congratulations, you’re now his favorite person.
From the very beginning, Wiley’s biggest strength is his love for people. He is incredibly affectionate, social, and happy to soak up attention from anyone willing to give it. He bonds quickly, seeks out closeness, and loves to cuddle right up with his humans. His foster describes him as a total cuddle bug, and that checks out—Wiley happily snuggles in, relaxes next to you, and clearly thrives on human connection. He has a soft, sweet heart and a silly, endearing way of asking for love that makes it impossible to say no. Lap dog? Absolutely. Personal space? Never heard of it.

Wiley also has a wonderfully goofy puppy personality. He’s playful, expressive, and full of happy energy, with a little bit of husky flair and that shepherd eagerness to be involved in everything you’re doing. He’s the kind of pup who will bounce over with excitement, give you a goofy grin, and then proudly show off whatever toy he’s carrying around. He can be a bit jumpy in his excitement because he just loves being with his people so much, but it’s all joyful enthusiasm and puppy charm. He’s extremely food motivated, which means training is actually a fun game for him—and he’s quick to respond when redirected.
With other dogs, Wiley does really well and is very socially appropriate. He enjoys being around canine friends and, once he settles in, happily joins in play. During his assessment, we saw him warm up and start offering play bows and playful chase, and his foster reports that he plays well with her dogs at home, especially her two heelers. He enjoys having dog friends to run around with and would thrive with a medium-energy dog sibling who likes to play but also knows how to relax. He’s polite with treats, respectful around food bowls, and perfectly happy sharing space with other dogs without any drama.
Wiley walks nicely on leash and is responsive and engaged with his handler. He corrects easily, checks in, and clearly enjoys walking with his person. He’s learning to fine-tune his leash manners, but his willingness to listen and his love of treats make him a joy to work with. He’s also doing well with crate training and is learning that the crate is a cozy, safe place—especially when snacks are involved. He’s even been known to snooze peacefully in his kennel during car rides, which is always a great sign.
This handsome boy would do best in a home without cats, but otherwise he’s very flexible and adaptable. Because he’s still a growing puppy with happy, bouncy energy, he’d be best with older kids who can enjoy his enthusiasm and handle his affectionate hops. An apartment could work if his people are active, and he’d also love a home where he can play, explore, and then crash hard for cuddle time.
Overall, Wiley is pure joy in dog form—sweet, cuddly, social, goofy, and full of love. He’s the kind of dog who will follow you around the house, make you laugh daily, and curl up next to you at the end of the day like he’s always belonged there. With a little guidance and a lot of love, Wiley is going to be an absolutely incredible best friend. 🐾
