My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact Renee (renees@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet.

Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.

Toby is the sweetest cuddle, hug-bug with the right amount of playfulness and recharging time. He had a family with kids that could not care for him anymore so he’s adjusting and settling in well with the foster family. He is learning new routines from the canines and keeps close to the human. Toby loves participating in all the activities around the house, lying on the floor near the human as she types away (aka works from home), car rides, sitting outside on a good weather day and going for neighborhood walks. Toby is house trained and walks easily on a leash (no pulling) even when he sees a squirrel. He knows some basic commands like sit and kennel up. He is very attentive to the human's voice. He’s affection seeking and treat motivated which is the best combination for more training. Toby is kenneled when the human leaves the house and at bedtime, sleeping soundly through the night. He is quiet and keeps the kennel dry and tidy. He's learning that the human comes back and is happy to see him. Toby is respectful with the older canines and can match the play style of younger canines that are eager to play. He also enjoys chasing a ball in the yard but hasn’t caught on to “bring it” as part of the game. He’s happy to trot back to the human without it. Toby wants a loving, forever family that wants a couch cuddler, adventure partner, and a close canine companion who is a true family member in their lives.

Adoption Fee: $200

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL.

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines:

Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more

Additional adoption info

The first step to meet or adopt any of our animals is to fill out a no-commitment application online. This is normally followed up with a meeting between your family and the animal, and a home visit. Adoption fees range from $75 to $300. Please visit our website (TarasDream.org) for more information about our adoptable pet including bios, more photos, and each pet's adoption fee. If an animal is not listed on our website, they are no longer available for adoption.

More about this rescue

A non-profit 501C3, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. Our organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness.

Although we are foster home based, we also lease several kennels at a local boarding facility. Although this little "shelter" is allowing us to save many more lives, it is an added expense which is why we rely so heavily on generous donations from caring people in the community.

In addition to rescuing pets from difficult situations, we offer courtesy listings in Pet Finder, facilitate low-cost spays and neuterings, work on transfers and transports with existing rescue groups, help individuals and organizations promote, screen and educate potential adopters, fund raise to help pets with special needs, offer guidance and information about animal rescue, organize events, etc.
