My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Theo 💙

Theo is a very, very nervous 10-month-old boy who was found wandering as a stray. The world feels big and overwhelming to him, and he’s still learning that he’s safe. Loud noises, sudden movements, and fast-paced environments can be scary for Theo, so he needs someone who is patient, gentle, and willing to go slow.

Despite his shyness, Theo is making progress every single day. Little by little, he’s starting to come out of his shell, showing that there’s a sweet soul underneath all that nervousness. With time, consistency, and love, he has so much potential to blossom.

Theo would thrive in a calm, understanding home with someone who will love him unconditionally—just as he is—and never rush him to be anything else. If you believe that the quiet ones are often the most special, Theo is waiting for his forever person. 💛

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
