If you’re looking for a companion who brings a sense of peace to the home—but isn’t afraid to speak her mind when the mood strikes—Shar is your girl.
While her siblings might be bouncing off the walls, Shar is the "zen master" of the bunch. She is a soulful, gentle girl who values quality over quantity when it comes to attention.
The Scoop on Shar:
On Her Own Terms: Shar is a bit shy at first and prefers to call the shots. She isn't the type to get in your face immediately; she likes to observe and approach you when she feels the "vibe" is just right.
The "Yell" of Love: Don't let her quiet nature fool you! Once Shar decides she wants pets or a snuggle, she will absolutely let you know. She’s famous for "yelling" at her humans to demand the attention she deserves.
Expert Snuggler: Once the ice is broken, Shar is a world-class cuddler. She loves to find a cozy spot right next to you and settle in for a long nap.
The Calm One: She is the chillest member of her group. While others are causing chaos, you can usually find Shar lounging gracefully, waiting for the perfect moment to come over for a chat.
Shar is looking for a patient, loving home where she can take her time coming out of her shell. If you want a calm best friend who will literally tell you exactly what she needs, Shar is ready to move in!

Their adoption process

1.
Submit Application

Apply online at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHDY/Cat

2.
Interview

We will call to discuss the kind of cat you would like to add to your family. We will also contact your vet and references so let them know!

3.
Approve Application

You receive an email with a tentative approval pending your home visit, with a link to schedule it at your convenience.

4.
Home Check

A quick video home visit to alert you to any dangers in your home or areas of concerns for a cat (example - crystal glassware on shelves).

5.
Meet the Pet

Come meet a specific cat at a meet and greet planned for you or come to one of our adoption events to pick out your new friend.

6.
Sign Adoption Contract

The adoption contract lists your responsibilities for the safety and health of your new family member.

7.
Pay Fee

Standard domestics: $150 young kitten, $125 juvenile kitten, $75 adult. You pay when you adopt or if you choose to reserve.

Shady's Paw Animal Rescue works diligently to pair our cats with the perfect home. The adoption process can be done in a few hours or it can take weeks - it just depends on when your references call us back and when you schedule your home visit.

Go meet their pets

Adoption events are held regularly in the community at Petco Winchester VA every other Saturday. Additional events are held at area festivals, wineries, breweries, and parks. Approved adopters can schedule a private meet and greet with their chosen pet. Same day adoptions are not done, so please apply in advance of any adoption event to give us time to check vet and personal references and to complete the video home visit.
