My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gentleman!🤵

Looking for a Gentleman to join you this holiday season?

This special man is looking for a home to call his own for the holidays. Gentleman is just as his name suggests, he is a smart, distinguished boy with a big heart and lots of love to share.

While we love him dearly, Gentleman has spent quite a bit of time with us here, and we would all love nothing more than for him to begin his next chapter and settle into his forever home for the holidays. Finding this special man a home where he can chase a ball, go for quiet, peaceful walks and then cuddle up at your side as your new best friend would make all our Christmas wishes come true!

Gentleman has been working very hard to live up to his name. With daily training sessions to perfect his manners, he has made wonderful progress. He can be unsure of new people, and his new family must be committed to continuing to support him in his training as he learns to navigate the world calmly and politely. The ideal adopter would be willing to come meet Gentleman a few times before he is ready to head off to his new life.

Like many distinguished gentlemen, our Gentleman has quite the refined palate. Due to severe allergies, he must maintain a strict hypoallergenic diet to keep him looking and feeling his best. Additionally, he is on a daily allergy medication to keep him feeling good and prevent any allergy flare ups. Adopters must be prepared for the costs associated with these medical needs.

If you think Gentleman sounds like the guy for you please fill out an application today!

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or
2.)Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
