My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kona is a sweet, eager-hearted dog who's finally getting the opportunity he's always deserved. After spending his life living outdoors on a line, he's discovering the comforts of indoor living for the very first time - soft beds, warm rooms, gentle hands, and the feeling of truly belonging. Every day is a new adventure for him, and he greets it with curiosity and hope.

Because Kona is still learning about the world and how to navigate it with confidence, he's looking for a calm, patient home where he can settle in at his own pace. We're still getting to know how he feels about other animals, so a home without young children or other pets would be the best fit while he continues to grow and learn.

What Kona wants most is simple: love, stability, and someone who believes in him. He's incredibly motivated to learn and thrives with positive, AnimalKind training, where he shines. With the right support, Kona is ready to become the best dog he can possibly be.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who's ready to start fresh and build a beautiful life by your side, Kona may be the perfect match. He's waiting for the family who will show him what it means to be loved forever. Kona is still waiting for his neuter surgery, so will need a family that is able to bring him back for his scheduled date!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
