My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nasa 🐾 Nasa is a sweet, gentle cat who is approximately 7 years old, weighs about 10 pounds, and is an American Shorthair. He loves playing fetch—you throw the ball, and he proudly brings it back to you. Nasa is also very talkative. He enjoys meowing to communicate, and will often lie down on his own and show you his belly, inviting you to pet him. Nasa does not do well in enclosed or confined spaces. When he feels trapped, he becomes extremely anxious and will meow continuously and scratch at the door. He loves quiet companionship and prefers to stay close to his person. He often sleeps near your head on the bed and enjoys snuggling close. His meow is soft and pleasant, and he truly loves being held. When I pick him up, he wraps his front paws around my neck and presses his belly against me, like a child holding on tightly. He naturally makes you want to protect him. Because Nasa forms strong bonds with people, he does not get along well with other cats. He expresses stress and unhappiness by marking territory with urine or feces. We currently have four cats, and none of the others have litter box issues. We have tried everything to help Nasa feel more comfortable—his favorite treats, extra playtime, more cuddles, and calming sprays—but he continues to mark indoors when living with other cats. Eventually, we had no choice but to keep him in the backyard. He desperately wanted to come inside, and I let him back in many times. Unfortunately, each time he resumed marking indoors, and I had to place him back outside. He would stand by the glass door, watching the house with longing and heartbreaking eyes. Seeing him like that always breaks my heart. Nasa needs to find his forever home where he can remain inside where he is safe. Nasa is in excellent health. He is fully vaccinated (rabies and FVRCP), neutered, and microchipped. He does not require special medical care, but he does need something very important: exclusive love. Nasa cannot live with other cats and must be the only pet in the household. If you are considering adopting him, please be sure you can give him a home where he is the sole cat. He is not fond of cat carriers and becomes vocal during car rides, crying throughout the journey unless he is held and feels secure. However, he has excellent litter box manners and always carefully covers his waste. Nasa is a deeply affectionate, gentle cat who needs to feel loved and chosen. I hope he can find a home with someone who will truly cherish him. My greatest wish is that his future is filled with love, safety, and happiness. If at any point you feel unable to care for him properly, please return him to me. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Nasa, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
