Take the Pet Home
- Sweet girl who likes rolling around on the couch and playing with stuffies and squeaky toys
- Likes to "talk" and she sounds like Chewbacca!
- Previous family said she knows sit, stay, wait, kennel, come, paw and hug
- Was fully housetrained and crate-trained in her previous home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule
- Can pull hard on a leash right now, so a harness will be ideal for walks
- Can become overstimulated and uncomfortable around loud noises, including children crying or being noisy, and would be happiest in a home with more mature family members
- Tends to be uncomfortable around other dogs and would likely do best as the only dog in her home or in a situation where she is able to enjoy her meals and treats separately from other dogs; would also benefit from slow introductions to any new dogs (dog intro required)
- Lived with a cat previously, and her family said it took a while for her to get used to the cat, so gradual introductions to cats will be important; eventually got to where she coexisted with the cat
- Needs a home with no chickens, ducks or other fowl
This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
