My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Graycie, a gentle soul with a soft heart and a shy beginning. At first, Gracie may prefer to watch the world from a safe distance, quietly taking everything in. But give her a calm, peaceful space and-most importantly-plenty of tasty wet food, and you'll start to see her true personality shine.

In a quiet environment, Graycie slowly comes out of her shell, showing her sweet and loving side to those who earn her trust. She's looking for an indoor-only home with patient, kind humans who understand that love sometimes grows slowly. With time, consistency, and lots of affection, Gracie will blossom into a devoted and cherished companion.

Graycie is currently on a special diet to keep her feeling her best. She's also scheduled for a dental procedure while in our care, and she would love nothing more than to settle into her forever home beforehand, where she can feel safe and loved as she prepares for that appointment.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
