My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Benny – Your Ultimate Cuddle Buddy and Play Partner!
Benny is a total Daddy’s boy and the true poster pup for lap dogs. His perfect day starts with a morning potty break, followed by patiently waiting while his person gets coffee and settles in for some quiet reading, coffee, and meditation time. Curled up on your lap, Benny brings a calm, comforting presence that makes mornings extra special.
Once breakfast is done, Benny is all business—ready for walks, playtime, and adventure! Don’t let his size fool you: this little guy can walk your legs off and would love one or two daily walks to burn off his happy energy. He’s used to a doggy door and a fenced yard, but a fenced yard is not required if he goes on daily walks.
Evenings are Benny’s favorite time. After dinner, he grabs a favorite toy and insists you play along—tug-of-war and playful wrestling are his specialties! He’ll happily entertain himself (and you) for hours before settling in for a cozy nap on your lap. At bedtime, Benny prefers sleeping on the couch or a chair in the living room and can comfortably go 8–10 hours overnight without a potty break. In the morning, he’ll politely (and persistently!) bark to let you know it’s time to get up—he takes his routine seriously.
Benny is affectionate, alert, and loyal. He’ll let you know when a package arrives or someone’s at the door, making him a great little watchdog. He loves to fetch, wrestle, and play tug-of-war and would do best in a home children over eight years old or so who can match his playful energy. He does not do well with young children.
Benny tolerates other dogs, but he really wants all of the toys and people to himself, so he would do best as an only dog.
This enthusiastic, loving boy is full of personality and devotion—and once Benny loves you, it’s forever. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion who’s always ready for fun and companionship, Benny may be your perfect match. 🐾❤️
Benny has a dental appointment scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 23, and then he’ll be ready to join his forever family. He is being fostered in Arnold, Missouri.
Benny’s adoption fee is $325. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Apply to meet Freddie today by filling out the adoption application at istodaymydayrescue.org.

Additional adoption info

We want to make this easy and we want to be sure that the dog you are interested in is a fit for you. Finding a dog or pup that works with your schedule and lifestyle is key to our placement. The questions on the application help us know if the dog you choose will do well in your home. Number of hours your dog is home alone, fenced yard, exercise plan, other family members – pets included; those are important things we want to discuss with you and your chosen canine.  We do require a vet reference.

The application is on our website: Istodaymydayrescue.org. Complete and send. You can expect a reply within 24-48 hours.  As all of our dogs are in foster care, we will then contact the foster home and arrange a meeting.  The foster home might want to do a home visit or you might meet at a convenient location. If it is a good fit, some adoptions can be completed at that time of the meeting.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. All of our dogs are micro chipped, wormed, heartworm tested if over 6 months, on heartworm preventative, treated for fleas, and have age appropriate vaccines. Pups under 16 weeks require ongoing vaccines every 2 to 3 weeks.

More about this rescue

“Is today my day?” That is what every shelter dog asks. “Is today the day that I find a home, get a family, discover that I am a best friend”? We want to tell those dogs: “Yes, it is!”

We are a foster based rescue who aims to serve south central Missouri, an area with a low human population and a high canine population. Our mission is to help dogs from this area find homes in the St. Louis area through adoptions and transfers. After covering spay/neuter costs, 20% of each adoption fee goes to our emergency medical fund so we can help canine accident victims, pay for emergency C-sections, and other health needs. The remainder of the adoption fee goes to the dogs.

We are foster based and do not have a facility. Moms and pups are our focus, but we will help any dog we can. We are only able to accept a dog when a foster home is available. All dogs and pups are current on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks. All dogs over 12 weeks have been altered; if too young for this procedure, a spay/neuter reimbursement is provided when the procedure is done.
