My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

INTROCUCING CHANTERELLE!

This is a terrible time of year for kitties who have been abandoned and are forced to try to survive out in the cold and wet all by themselves. We know bad things happen to animals every day, but it's extra unfair when they're just babies. Chanterelle was in a life and death struggle when Lynn, one of our wonderful fosters, found her. She was in a dumpster behind Audrey's restaurant in Newport, inside a giant, restaurant sized, mushroom soup can, licking out what little was left for her meager breakfast. When she was brought to us we realized she had a bad abscess under her jaw caused by the jagged edges of the can. It's a good thing Lynn found her when she did. Had she not starved first, the abscess would have killed her in short order. You wouldn't know she'd had such a harrowing start in life to meet her now. She's a happy, healthy little girl, ready and waiting for her very own family to come and take her home!
Though Chanterelle is the size of a 4-month-old kitten, we were surprised to be told she was actually 6 months old when she was spayed recently. (She's also been wormed and vaccinated.) Dr Laura knew she was older than we thought because she has all her adult teeth, which happens at around 6 months. She was barely finding enough food to survive, never mind growing at a normal rate. Because of this she may always be petite in size, but she's certainly big on personality! As you can see from her pictures, she likes looking at the world upside down and rolling over for belly rubs. Pick her up and she'll cuddle in your lap for a nice long snuggle while she purrs up a storm. When she first came, she planted herself in front of the heater, also strategically located near the food bowl. She was determined she'd never be cold or hungry again! Now that the infection is cleared up, which also made her cold, and she knows there will always be food, she's venturing forth to play with the other kittens. She gets along with them well and would be happy to have a kitty buddy in her new home. Lots of quality time with her very own humans will truly be heaven for this little girl, after her terribly hard start in life. For her $75 adoption fee Chanterelle will gladly pack her bags and become your most cherished family member. To meet her, please fill out an adoption application on our website using this ink: https://pawsitiveoutreach.org/adoption-application.org or call Gina at (480)779-9208. Don't make her wait too long, she deserves her own home at last!
