This was a hard choice for my family to make. We’ve come to the realization that we are no longer the best parents for him. My wife and I both work and we have two littles at home (he does so well with kids, any other dogs, and cats), but he is at the bottom of the attention list. He needs someone that consistently play with him regularly, walks, and take proper care of him.
I would not recommend anyone who is not prepared to take on a dog that comes with serious maintenance like Howard (shedding, brushing, large dog poop pickup, etc.)
I cannot emphasize enough how sweet and wonderful he is. He truly is the best dog I’ve ever had, but I realize I am no longer providing him the level of care and attention that he deserves.
Quick facts:
-He is 5
-He is a gentle giant couch potato who loves snuggles
-He’s house trained and can be left for several hours without an accident
-He’s great with kids, other dogs, and cats
