My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Unfortunatly one of Scout's humans passed and the need has occured to rehome. Scout is a loving, quirky guy. This sweet pup has been through more than most, and it’s shaped him into a sensitive, thoughtful dog who feels things deeply. Because of his past, he can be anxious in new situations and needs a little time to feel safe. But once he knows he’s okay—once trust is built—his true heart shines.  He knows sit, stay, leave it, shake (both paws) and speak

He is incredibly loving, loyal, and eager to connect with his person. When he’s comfortable, he leans in for affection, soaks up gentle attention, and forms strong bonds with those who treat him with patience and kindness. He thrives in calm environments and does best with someone who understands that love sometimes grows slowly—but beautifully. -He has only been around very few dogs but does not do well with high energy dogs but seems to do well with seniors (my sisters dog is an older white lab and they do well together). He is not a dog park dog, he needs to be properly introduced and get familiar with a dog before being around them comfortably

At his core he is scared of new things, especially new dogs and may bark at them. He is potty trained and will dance in circles if you ask him if he needs to go potty

More about this rescue

Stray Haven provides homes, as foster space allows, for dogs and puppies. We primarily focus on pulling dogs and puppies from independent rescuers who have little resources to secure the vetting and homes that these precious babies so desperately need. Some counties in rural areas don't have access to a county run shelter or facility and these independent rescuers are breaking their backs trying to make sure that dogs aren't starving or freezing after abandonment.

In addition to taking in these dogs and puppies, our outreach continues to help independent rescuers by providing education, exposure for the animals in their care and donations when possible to support their cause.
