If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Cookies is a 12-year-old, 6-lb senior dog whom we adopted from the Lawrence Humane Society after he was rescued from a cruel breeder. He is sweet, gentle, quiet, and affectionate, and despite his difficult past, he has a very calm and loving nature. Cookies cannot bark and has only a few teeth, so he requires soft or mashed food, such as boiled chicken. He sleeps either with us or in his own bed and enjoys a peaceful routine. He prefers going outside to potty rather than using a kennel, but he does not walk on a leash, so a secure outdoor space or patient assistance is important. I am a full-time student with a toddler, and despite loving Cookies deeply, I am no longer able to give him the time and care he deserves. I am seeking a quiet, stable home - ideally with someone experienced with senior or special-needs dogs- who can provide him with the patience, comfort, and attention he needs in his senior years.
