Meet Akyra!

Akyra is a 7-year-old sweetheart with a heart full of love. Weighing in at 62 pounds, this gentle girl is spayed and fully vetted and ready for her forever home.

Akyra is a calm and affectionate companion who loves to cuddle and quiet moments by your side. She enjoys walks without pulling hard on leash, belly rubs and her preference on cold days is to stay cozy in her warm room. Despite her age Akyra loves to run free in the fenced yards at the shelter. Akyra is a loyal friend who wants to be by your side and is looking for her perfect match. Akyra may be 7, but she's still young at heart and has plenty of life and love to give!

She's good with all people of all ages and has a polite, easy-going personality.

AS OF JANUARY 2018:
Dogs: $100 - Includes Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia Test, DHLPP and Rabies Vaccination, Dewormings, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering.

Puppies (0-6 months): $150 - Includes 3 DHLPP Vaccinations, 3 Dewormings, a Certificate for a Rabies Vaccination, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering by a participating veterinarian.

Cats: $40 (or 2 for $50) Includes Feline Leukemia/Aids test, 2 RCP Vaccinations, Rabies Vaccination, 2 Dewormings, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering.

Kittens (0-6 Months): $80 (or 2 for $120) includes a Feline Leukemia/Aids test, 3 RCP Vaccinations, 3 Dewormings, Certificate for a Rabies Vaccination, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering by a participating veterinarian.

Located on Stagebridge Road (Rt. 624) and Rt. 29 just two miles north of Lovingston on 2 acres of Land.
Houses animals in "real-life rooms".
A Spacious lobby/waiting room and reception area.
13 rooms for dogs which will hold 2 to 3 dogs depending on size.
4 cat rooms for multiple numbers of cats.
Two isolation rooms, one for dogs and one for cats.
A room for bathing and grooming.
A food preparation area.
A conference/meeting room.
Inside and outside exercise areas for dogs.
Open seven days a week.
Animals being surrendered by their owners are accepted on a space available basis if they are judged to be adoptable. Animals are also selected from unclaimed or unwanted animals at the Nelson County Animal Control Facility after they are evaluated by the HS/SPCA and judged to be adoptable. Strays will continue to go through Animal Control.

No animal will be put down unless it is judged to be dangerously aggressive or untreatably ill. Almost Home Pet Adoption Center now has several part-time employees
but still relys heavily on volunteer help.
