My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Meatloaf 🐾
I’m a gray girl with a flair for the dramatic and a heart as big as a rock ballad. Life with me is never dull — I’m equal parts soulful, tender, and ready to steal the spotlight (or your lap) whenever I choose.

I enjoy long, dramatic stretches of lounging, intense stare-downs from the coziest corners, and, of course, gentle pets that let me know I’m adored. I’m a little mysterious at first, but with patience and love, I reveal a truly passionate, affectionate side that will make you swoon.

Looking for a companion who’s a little rock star, a little heartthrob, and all heart? Meatloaf is ready to bring epic love, a touch of drama, and plenty of purrs into your life — and maybe even inspire your own rock ballad along the way. 🎸💙An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
