My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Paradise By The Dashboard Lights 🐾
I’m a stunning calico-and-white girl with a personality as dramatic and memorable as my name. I used to live outside, but now I’ve discovered the joys of the indoor life — cozy corners, soft beds, and gentle pets are definitely my new favorite things.

I’m curious, loving, and sometimes a little sassy, but I always make sure the fun and affection are worth it. I enjoy playful adventures, quiet moments, and naps in sunny spots — all with the kind of flair that makes every day feel like a hit single.

Looking for a cat who brings excitement, sweetness, and a touch of theatrical magic to your home? Paradise By The Dashboard Lights is ready to star in your life’s next big hit — full of love, charm, and unforgettable moments. 🎸💖An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
