*This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.*
Ms. Cardi brings the party! Always smiling, happy, and energetic. It's obvious Cardi once enjoyed a life of leisure as someone's loyal companion. You would never know she has just been through months of uncertainty, confined to a crate. That's not the life Cardi is accustomed to and despite the physical toll of starvation and neglect, she still loves life and wants to share it with as many friends as possible!
Cardi is friendly with all people. She loves attention and wants to be included in family activities. Cardi is ready to go! She's confident and lives in the moment. Cardi eagerly participates in car rides, walks, games of tug, snuggling on the couch, and relaxing with a chew toy. She can be talkative when she's excited, but is not a barker.
After her ordeal, Cardi feels most secure being the only pet in her home. She was previously housebroken and good in a crate. She will need patience while learning your routine and adjusting to being a cherished companion once again.
Cardi is a senior but you wouldn't know by how she acts. Her only tell is the fabulous frosted face she is developing. Her coat is a beautiful black, soft and shiny, requiring regular brushing to manage her undercoat.

Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape.
Cardi is from a local shelter. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
