My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Story 💕

Story is a gentle, loving girl who has already been through more than any dog should in such a short life. She was surrendered when she needed an emergency C-section that her previous owners couldn’t afford. Sadly, none of her puppies survived, but Story did, and she’s slowly learning that the world can be kind again.

Because of everything she’s experienced, Story is still working through a few fears. Putting on a leash or collar can be scary for her at first, but once she trusts you, she's actually quite excited to join you for a walk. She isn't the biggest fan of sharing her belongings with other dogs, so she may do best as an only dog in the home. Outside of the house, however, she has done well meeting other dogs. She simply prefers that her space and things remain her own.
With patience, reassurance, and gentle guidance, Story continues to make progress every day. Despite her past, she is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She’ll happily come over for pets, cuddles, and especially snacks once she's warmed up to you. She loves cozy dog beds, chewing on bones, and chasing after a tennis ball when she’s feeling playful.

Story will thrive in a calm, loving home that understands she needs a little time to build confidence. In return, she’ll reward you with loyalty, snuggles, and a heart full of love. With patience and kindness, Story is sure to become your very best buddy. 🐾💗

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
