Beau is a senior beagle mix from West Virginia who was surrendered with another dog. Sadly, their owner passed away and the family was unable to keep them. Beau loves people and is outgoing, friendly, sweet, and affectionate. He's a playful guy who gets along very well with other dogs and has always lived with one. He knows how to use a doggie door. And, he is easy and calm on a leash.
Beau is house and crate-trained, but he doesn’t like the crate. He has shown separation anxiety by howling when left alone. So, he would love someone to be home a lot. He has also shown a propensity to escape and should be monitored even in a fenced-in yard. Beau has a grade 3/4 heart murmur and mitral valve disease requiring medication twice a day for life. He will need regular echocardiograms and monitoring for disease progression. But this special boy is worth the extra effort! Beau is in a foster home south of Boston.

More about this rescue
Happy Life Beagle Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, is a 100% volunteer run rescue established in 2022. We're a new rescue, however, collectively our Adoption Counselors have been rescuing beagles for decades. All have experience with other rescues, as well as being beagle lovers and owners themselves. Currently, the core volunteers within the rescue have 15 beagles between them.
Our combined experience and knowledge about the breed provides us with a wealth of information to draw from to make the best placements possible, as well as offer support to our adopters.
