My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Brookie — The Low-Key, Low-Drama Queen of Chill

Brookie is a sweet, easygoing girl who’s all about simple living, cozy routines, and finding the sunniest spot in the house to nap. She’s wonderfully low energy, food motivated, and perfectly content entertaining herself. She doesn’t need daily walks or constant activity. A fenced backyard, some indoor enrichment, and a soft place to snooze are all she wants.

Calm, Low-Maintenance Lifestyle
Brookie is happiest sticking close to home. She’s perfectly satisfied with backyard time and regular potty breaks and is at her best in a predictable, peaceful environment. Indoors, she gently roams the house, finds a comfy spot, and relaxes. She’s not clingy or anxious and has no separation anxiety. She can be left loose in the home for hours without issue, as long as food is put away.

Dog Friendly, But Low-Social
Brookie likes other dogs but isn’t seeking a playmate. She has excellent dog manners and is polite and relaxed when meeting new dogs. She prefers calm coexistence over play. She should not live with cats or small animals due to her high prey drive.

Affection, On Her Terms
Brookie isn’t a full cuddler, but she enjoys affection in her own quirky way. Her signature “half-snuggle” move happens when you’re sitting on the couch: she places her front half in your lap and stands there happily for scratches. She is comfortable being handled by familiar people, though she prefers her paws not be touched. With strangers, she needs slow introductions. On leash, she may lunge if someone unfamiliar approaches too quickly. Off leash, especially on home turf, she does well when introductions are done properly.

Her Most Endearing Quirk
Brookie’s foster family calls it her “buffering and then torpedo” moment. When you call her, it takes several seconds for her to register it. Then suddenly she realizes she’s being spoken to and comes sprinting straight toward you, nose-first into your lap or hands. It’s charming, funny, and very uniquely her.

The Home She’s Hoping For
Brookie will thrive in a home with:
• No cats or small animals
• Minimal visitors or calm introductions
• A low-stress, predictable lifestyle
• A fenced yard or simple indoor routine
• A patient adopter who appreciates a quiet, easy companion

Brookie is incredibly easy when she’s in the right environment. She’s sweet, independent, low maintenance, and full of subtle charm. If you’re looking for a peaceful, sunbeam-loving dog who brings comfort without chaos, Brookie may be the perfect fit.

More about this rescue

We started out fighting for our baby boy, Lucci, who was killed due to Airport Animal Emergi-Center Clinic's breed prejudice. When he was killed, we make a promise that no bully would be left behind. Now we try to save as many bullies as we can!
