My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Woof* Meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW between 12pm-7pm daily!
Lonnie Girl is a beautiful girl with a smile for everyone she meets! And if you sit down, well get ready for Lonnie Girl. She will trot over to you and rest her big old head right on your lap. She will then expect lots of pettings and baby talk. This girl really knows how to work a room for sure! She is so funny! She is playful, silly, eager to engage and just be a total flirt! Lonnie Girl is a wiggle butt sweetie ready for a home with folks that want to help her refine her leash walking skills and take her for long sniffy adventures. In fact, a devoted volunteer took Lonnie Girl out for a friend trip and she shared, `I had such an amazing day with Lonnie Girl. She is incredibly sweet and gentle, and just wanted to relax and enjoy the sun. She could use a patient human to help her gain confidence and learn how to dog, but she`s so ready to show everyone what a wonderful family member she can be! She wants to be close to you and loves putting her big pittie head in your lap for kisses and cuddles, but she`s not overbearing. She`s really a perfect girl!` Meet this pretty girl today!

More about this shelter

At the Humane Rescue Alliance, we honor more than 150 years of commitment to protecting animals, supporting families, and advocating for positive change to create a world where all animals can thrive. HRA serves as a national leader and local champion for all animals.

With a people-focused, community-based approach, we treat every animal as an individual and emphasize specialized care for both animals and their families. Through our two campuses in the District of Columbia and New Jersey, we are the largest animal services provider in our region – touching the lives of tens of thousands of animals annually through direct rescue, care, and community-based services. Our teams find solutions to both small and big problems, from providing direct care to an animal in crisis to tackling systemic barriers to affordable, pet-friendly housing.
