My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foster mom update!

If you love a dog with depth, heart, and a great comeback story, Squid might just be your guy.

Squid is a big personality in a wiggly, expressive body, and living with him is never boring. He is smart, sensitive, and very eager to please. The best way to describe him is a dog who feels things deeply and tries really hard to make his humans happy.

He bonds closely with his people and is deeply loyal. He has a very sweet and affectionate side, and he loves being near his humans, whether that is hanging out at home or working on training together.

Structure, clear expectations, and routine help him feel confident, and he really shines when he knows what the plan is. He enjoys learning and would do best with an adopter who will keep expanding on the skills he has. Continued guidance and consistency will keep him on the path to be the balanced dog he is becoming.

Squid is looking for a patient home that appreciates a smart, sweet dog and is committed to providing leadership, routine, and kindness. He is not the right fit for someone looking for an easy, low effort dog, but for the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion; he has proven so in his foster home.

He is dog friendly and does well with both big and small dogs. He is housetrained. He also has a fun, playful side and absolutely loves fetch. Toss a ball and you will see this track star light up the yard. He would also be a great running buddy.

Meet
Squid!
Squid is a one-year-old (DOB december 2024) Cane Corso mix with a giant heart and an even bigger need to be close to his people. This sweet boy loves humans so much that he prefers to be right by your side—personal space optional!

Squid didn’t get the attention or training he deserved as a puppy, so he’s still learning how to be his best self. With patience, structure, and love, he has so much potential. He’d thrive in a home with a calm male or female dog who can help show him the ropes and boost his confidence.

Squid is looking for a stable, understanding home that sees not what he missed—but who he can become. If you’re ready to help this loving boy grow, Squid is ready to give you his whole heart.

More about this rescue

WHO WE ARE: The Buster Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing pit bulls and bully breed mixes. Through decades of cruelty, unethical breeding and irresponsible ownership, a once beloved family dog has now found itself the victim of discrimination and abuse, and a source of misdirected public fear. We believe that every dog is an individual, deserving of a loving home, proper care, and a fair shake, regardless of breed. We hope our efforts lead to a better educated and more compassionate public.

The Buster Foundation is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, and does not operate a shelter. All Buster dogs are cared for in foster homes by volunteers who commit their homes and free time to rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption efforts.

We respect our volunteer's fierce commitment to our dogs and trust you will understand why we cannot always respond immediately to requests and inquiries. We make every effort to have a volunteer respond to inquiries and questions within 72 hours. We thank you for your understanding and patience! Please try again if you do not receive a response within 72 hours.
