Their adoption process

If you have current pets or have multiple members in your family we recommend doing a sleepover to ensure all animals and family members feel comfortable with the new potential addition.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
We ask for references, and will confirm with your landlord (as applicable) if you are able to have the interested pet in your rented home.
  2. Approve Application
If you have current pets we encourage a 'sleepover' to make sure your pets will live in harmony.
  3. Sign Adoption Contract
  4. Pay Fee
  5. Take the Pet Home
You have two weeks to decide if your new pet is a good fit in your home to return the pet to the rescue for a full refund.

Go meet their pets

Foster folks will work with adopters to find a time and location to meet the future pet. This can include bringing the pet to a Meet & Greet, meeting at the foster's home, the adopters home or another location.

More about this rescue

ARVSS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue in Madison & surrounding Dane County WI committed to rescuing dogs in need and supporting communities without access to shelters. Our goal is to help find resources for the abandoned and often times injured animals.

Most of our adoptable dogs are transported from Light Shine Dog Rescue in South Dakota from overcrowded situations. We bring dogs into the rescue that need medical attention that other rescues are not able to due to our close work with a veterinary clinic.

All donations and funds raised are put toward the medical care and resources support the animals while in the rescue until they find their forever homes.
Medical care includes vet visits, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, treatment ailments (manage, worms, burn treatments, etc.) and surgeries to repair breaks or fractures the animals come into the rescue with.
Food and flea/tick and heart worm are also provided for the animal’s care while in the rescue.
