If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Carmella was a stray in Harlingen, TX. Her owner would not pick her up. She was a bait dog or the chew toy for a fighting dog. When I took her home to administer heartworm treatment, she would jump our 6 ft privacy fence, visit the neighbor, and then jump their 6 ft privacy fence and return. She walks on a leash, is house trained, and can sit and shake. When we moved to Austin, she broke out of our metal kennel and bent it. She removes herself to our bedroom when too many people are at our house. She lets the grandkids pet her but is scared. She snaps at animals in her face and even pins them (except our kitten). She snapped at a dog she knows and started fighting to the death. We were able to pull them apart eventually. She killed a possum on a walk and is reactive to other animals on walks or when she has jumped our 6 ft fence. 2 Kennels won't let her back. She's a cuddler with us and very loving. She needs an experienced owner willing to work with her. She'll be euthanized 12/27.
