My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rutabaga Professional Biscuit Maker, Amateur Opera Singer.

Rutabaga is around 2 years old and truly one of a kind.

If you can’t decide whether you want a striped, spotted, brown, black or white cat then Rutabaga is for you. She has it all, stripes, spots, splotches, and even pink toe beans.

She is a little shy, and believes loud noises are a personal attack. You will usually find her tucked into a carefully chosen hiding spot (under beds, couches, closets) and love any type of cat bed with a roof. Don’t be alarmed if she greets your approach with a dramatic “fake hiss.” This is purely for show. She has never scratched, swiped, or bitten anyone, and once you initiate pets, she instantly transforms into a purring, biscuit-making machine.

Rutabaga loves affection, on her terms, and expects you to do the legwork. Think of it as a scavenger hunt that ends in cuddles. Typical of the queen she is, she will call for you when she wants attention and you better go to her ready to pet her for hours.

She is extremely vocal and enjoys having full conversations, frequently meowing back when spoken to. If you talk to her, she will respond. She has an arsenal of all different types of meows, chirps, purrs, and songs to sing. Bonus points if you come bearing Churu treats, which she considers a basic human responsibility.

Despite her preference for hiding, Rutabaga is shockingly strong, agile, and athletic. She can jump, climb, and access places you didn’t know were reachable, so mild cat-proofing is recommended. She is indifferent to other cats and can coexist peacefully, though she doesn’t require a feline best friend. That said, a confident cat role model could help her feel more secure.

Rutabaga is seeking a calm, cat-savvy, adult (or older teen) home with humans who understand that trust takes time, boundaries matter, and that you should bow to furry cat overlords.
