Meet Gretchen, a beautiful ~2-3 year old female German Wirehaired Pointer mix, weighing about 38 lbs! Gretchen is the loving mama of the Oktoberfest litter, born on 10/29/2025.
Gretchen was picked up as a stray in east TN when she was heavily pregnant. She was placed in a foster home, and she gave birth shortly afterwards to 8 adorable pups! Mama and pups are now in New England, and the pups are starting to head off to their furever homes now that they are old enough. Gretchen is ready to retire from mama duties and find a furever home of her own!
Gretchen is a very sweet, loving dog who is friendly and loves meeting new people! She is great with all people and kids. She just wants to be pet and loved on - we think she probably hasn't gotten much love and attention until recently, and now that she has gotten a taste of it, she is ALL about it! She does well with other dogs, although she can be a little jealous at times, she does adjust well and is BFFs with her golden retriever foster sister. She has not been cat tested, so we are unsure how she would do with cats.
Gretchen is medically up to date (awaiting her spay appointment in January), housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this special mama dog today!

Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding!
