When a shopper came out of Costco she met someone with several kittens in a crate. That person said they didn't want them and was going to open the crate doors and let them out. Antonio and Maria are two of those and now ready to be loved and kept indoors with a caring family. These two went to foster to gain some confidence and here's what their foster family told us about them:
These two will take time to settle into a new environment. They can be easily startled with noise and movement so a quiet, zen type of home would be best. Their new family should be patient and go nice and slow with them. If they do, these two will make great additions. Maria is more confident, and Antonio tends to follow her lead. Maria was the first to begin playing and accept petting, and she has even enjoyed some lap time. She is still learning to accept more affection but continues to make progress. Antonio remains very hand shy, but when he does allow petting, he will flop on to his side and let you cradle his head while his cheeks are rubbed. Maria is quick to purr when you come near, during petting, and while playing. Antonio has only been heard purring while being petted. Older and calm children might be fine with them.
Both cats love Beef Temptations. Antonio also likes tuna-flavored Kitten Churus, but only when served on a plate. These treats have been helpful in building Antonio's comfort with closer contact.
Antonio and Maria are energetic and fierce when they play. They love the mop, mouse, and worm toys and enjoy running and jumping to catch them. Crunchy packing paper is another favorite. Sometimes one of them will take over a toy, so it's helpful to have more than one available. They also enjoy chasing and wrestling with each other. Antonio can play rough, but Maria will often be the instigator and is quick to chase him back.
In their downtime from playing, they both enjoy gazing out the windows and exploring their room. Bookshelves are particularly fun.
