Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ABOUT HUNTER
Hunter is hoping for a fresh start. This sweet boy came to us from unimaginable circumstances after being rescued from a severe hoarding and neglect situation. He lived with 18 other dogs, free roaming and often without reliable access to food or clean water. Understandably, this has left Hunter with some trauma and resource-guarding behaviors around other dogs, as he never knew when his next meal would come. Adjusting to the shelter was challenging at first, but Hunter is beginning to settle in and show his true personality. He can be timid or guarded when meeting new people, but with patience and kindness, he warms up. Once he feels safe, Hunter is affectionate, goofy, and full of charm. He loves enrichment games and puzzle toys that keep his mind busy, and his intelligence really shines through. Despite being 7 years old, Hunter has plenty of life left and is ready to start his next chapter! Hunter has begun participating in our Doggy Day Out program, receiving lots of love from our volunteers! Here's what one had to say about him:
"Took Hunter out for DDO today, no trouble getting in and out of the car. He was very good on the ride to the nature trail. Started off with some pulling on the leash but I think it was due to his excitement and all the smells. Went back to my house and gave him some toys but he wasn’t interested in them. After some exploring he settled on the couch and snuggled and gave lots of kisses. Went out and played in the yard then went to Cauffiel estate for another walk. Hunter enjoys walking and loves being outside. He loves waffles, also loves treats. Hunter does have a lot of energy but also knows how to sit and is easily redirected. He loves to walk and would be good with any outdoor activity!" - Autumn
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
