My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.

Meet Green Bean — “Beanie” to her friends
Beanie was a fan favorite from the very start. She’s a Labrador Retriever puppy who is playful, confident, silly, and absolutely loves to cuddle - the kind of pup who curls right in and makes herself at home in your heart.
Unfortunately, once Beanie was diagnosed with a heart murmur, interest in her dropped, and that breaks our heart because she is still the same amazing puppy.
So let’s talk about that for a moment
A heart murmur is an extra sound heard during a heartbeat. In puppies, many murmurs are mild and can lessen or even resolve as they grow. Some dogs live long, happy, totally normal lives with them. Treatment and care can vary widely and each dog is different so a consultation with a cardiologist would help explain what care looks like for Beanie’s specific case. Beanie deserves a family who understands that loving her might also mean being prepared for potentially extra care in the future.
What Beanie doesn’t know:
• She doesn’t know she’s different
• She doesn’t know she’s “less adoptable”
• She doesn’t know her heart makes an extra sound
What she does know:
• How to play hard
• How to love big
• How to snuggle like a pro
• How to be the very best girl
All of Beanie’s siblings have found their homes… and she is the last one still waiting. She will be 8 weeks old on 12/27, and she’s hoping for a Christmas miracle - a family who sees her, not just a diagnosis.
If you’re the kind of person who believes love is worth a little extra care, Green Bean might just be your soulmate

All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped.
AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We begin each adoption with the submission of the application. This step helps us assess the fit, and gives us general information.

2.

Approve Application

Part of approving the application for adoption is a vet check. To make this step go faster contact your vet to approve the release of record

3.

Home Check

Home checks are required and will happen prior to the meet and greet. The home visit can happen at the same time of adoption.

4.

Meet the Pet

The meet and greet is the last step. We will want to meet the family including your current dogs to ensure it will be a good fit.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

Pay the adoption fee via cash, check or PayPal. Complete the contract with our volunteer and you may take the pet home :)

Additional adoption info

Steps 3,4 & 5 may or may not be combined into one step, depending upon foster and volunteers availability as well as the foster animal being considered.

Go meet their pets

We are foster based which means our rescued animals stay in foster homes until adoption. Keep an eye on our Facebook Page for upcoming adoption events! We attend the Novi Pet Expo in November, Frankenmuth Dog Bowl over Memorial Weekend and The Renaissance Festival in Holly the first weekend each year!

More about this rescue

Saving Tails Animal Rescue is a 501c3 foster-based animal rescue, meaning all of the animals live and stay in volunteer's homes until a forever family is found. All of our animals are fully vetted age appropriately, microchipped and fixed before adoption. Animals come into our care primarily from shelters or owner surrenders.
