Meet Elvira, the ultimate "social butterfly" who is looking for a forever home where personal space is a thing of the past. Originally found heavily pregnant on the streets of Mexico with a terrible skin infection, Elvira moved to California to give birth to her litter of six before making the trek to the much chillier state of Minnesota to finish raising them.
Despite her history as a mother, her foster mom affectionately calls her a "teen mom" because of her hilarious tendency to "ditch" the kids whenever possible just to go play! She still radiates massive puppy energy, often performing a signature "happy dance" where she kicks her back feet out behind her like a cartoon character kicking up dust.
This sweet girl is a total gem who lives for affection, showering everyone she meets with kisses and acting as a tiny, warm shadow to her favorite humans. Elvira is a brave, confident leader who is currently living harmoniously with two cats and gets along great with other dogs, especially her best friend Canelita. While she is still adjusting to the Minnesota winter—often requiring a pep talk to brave the snow—she is already a pro at using potty pads.
Elvira will need a home with a fenced-in yard and older children; these specific requirements are in place to help accommodate the needs of her companion, Canelita.
Elvira's skin is healed and Elvira is scheduled to be spayed and receive her final vaccines on January 2nd, meaning she will be ready to start her new chapter shortly after!- You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal.
- Elvira's adoption fee is $400 + Minnesota sales tax. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/
- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged.
- Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.
- You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request.
