My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Elvira!
Elvira is a roughly two-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 14 lbs, with a heart as big as her personality. She is an incredibly sweet, loving girl who absolutely adores being around her people. Kisses, cuddling, playing and quality time are her favorite things.

Elvira is getting the hang of housebreaking but will happily use a potty pad if she decides Minnesota winter is just too much (very relatable).

She can live with cats and can also live with other dogs. Due to her life on the streets in Mexico, Elvira may resource guard high-value food or treats from other dogs; however, her foster mom has never had any issues with her guarding from people.

Elvira has met a 7-year-old child and did well, so she could be placed in a home with dog-savvy kids ages 7 and up.

Elvira also enjoys sitting by the window and watching the world go by. She will bark from time to time (as most Chi's do), so she may not be the best fit for shared-wall living like apartments or townhomes.

Elvira is microchipped, spayed, up to date on rabies and distemper, has had a negative fecal and has been on a flea & tick/heartworm preventative.

Elvira is all love, loyalty, and personality — and she’s ready for a home that will cherish her as much as she’ll cherish them.

- Elvira's adoption fee is $350 + Minnesota sales tax. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/

- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged.

- Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.
- You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request.

More about this rescue

Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota (SDR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer no-kill group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of dogs 20 pounds and under.

Dogs are fostered in volunteers' homes so they can be loved like a family member until they are placed in a suitable adoptive home, determined by a review of a written application, a criminal background check, several reference consultations, and a home visit.
