My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes:
In her notes, Velvet's veterinarian noted how polite she is, and SHE IS. In addition to being the sweetest and most loving pup, and she knows how to be patient with people who want to give her attention and with me when I'm preparing her food. The only thing she is not patient about it is when she sees there's a chance that we might be heading toward the park. Then the excited puppy energy takes over.
Velvet loves tennis balls, soccer balls, squeaky toys (she is a very efficient squeaker-remover), fetch, and tug of war. Her tail is powerful and she wags it with gusto when she is happy.
Velvet loves to run but she is also happy as a work-from-companion, having attended many zoom meetings with me and listened in on countless work phone calls. She lounges about during the day for a surprising number of hours. She cuddles me at night (yes, of course, she sleeps in my bed and gets her hair everywhere), and sometimes snores (it's adorable), and has little dreams where she is apparently paddling her paws in a wide ocean or something like that.
Velvet is not a picky eater and takes her meds in half-vienna-sausages with no problems at all. I've only been in two ubers with her and no city buses, but she is making great strides with the subway where she is peaceful and patient and never tires of the public attention her brindle coat guarantees.
She knows perhaps 20 commands and we're working on "privacy" (so a human can use the bathroom in peace) and "slow" when going down stairs.
I love her a lot. She has quickly become my best friend. I am sure you will love her, too.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!

I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy!
