My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Missy is an outgoing senior lady who sadly came to the SPCA when her previous guardian could no longer care for her. She's a friendly, regal lady who loves attention and will flop at your feet waiting for pets and love to be bestowed on her royal personage. She enjoys lazy naps and yummy snacks, maybe a little too much, since she is overweight. She will benefit from a good quality diet to help her trim down and get her feminine figure back. A good diet will also be important in her senior years to help keep her as healthy as possible. Missy doesn't seem to be a fan of other cats so may do best as the only animal in the home as she seems to be used to being by herself with her person. We're not sure if she's been around children but she may be fine with older kids who are cat savvy and know how to handle a senior cat. Missy enjoys attention and getting brushed. An adopter should be prepared to brush her regularly to help keep her longer coat in tip top shape as it can be hard for senior cats to full groom themselves as easily. Overall Missy is a lovely lady who will make a wonderful loving companion. Could it be you?

*MISSY IS CURRENTLY AWAITING A DENTAL SURGERY AND NOT ABLE TO OFFICIALLY BE ADOPTED JUST YET. LOCAL ADOPTERS MAY HAVE THE OPTION TO FOSTER TO ADOPT UNTIL MISSY'S CARE IS COMPLETED. Ask staff for more information.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
