Sweet Ella was surrendered to one of our San Antonio, Texas rescuers because she wasn't catching onto potty training. Luckily there was a reason for this and easy solutions! The previous owners hadn't vaccinated her at the time and didn't want to risk taking her outside or into the vet to get spayed. This has all been remedied and she’s working on it!
Ella is a little 15 pound, one year old ball of energy who loves to play and gets along with all the other dogs. She also loves kids! Please feed her separately as she can be food reactive (hand feeding is a great way to start working on this).
Ella is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring her up and into their home- the next transport arrives January 9th!
Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.
Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.

Submit foster application if you only wish to foster, and an adoption application if you wish to adopt or foster with the intent of adoption
Meet the Pet
After your app is submitted, we will reach out to have a conversation and schedule a time for you to meet the pet
Approve Application
If you decide to move forward after the meet and greet we will officially approve your application
Take the Pet Home
After your app is approved, we will complete foster or adoption paperwork and you will take the pet home
