My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lewis — The Sweet, Soft-Hearted Farm Pup

Oh, little Lew. Lewis is the kind of puppy who quietly steals your heart without even trying. He’s the cutest, snuggliest ball of puppy sweetness and has a calm, gentle presence that makes everyone around him slow down just a bit.

Lewis can self-entertain and is perfectly happy doing his own thing, but his favorite playmate is his brother, Clark. He’ll join in with the resident Malinois now and then, but he truly prefers sticking close to his brother. When you pick Lew up, he melts—floppy, relaxed, and ready for snuggles.

He’s not lacking confidence, just more cautious and thoughtful. If Clark jumps off the bed, Lewis will pause, assess the situation, and decide it might not be worth it. He loves exploring, especially outdoors, and seems like the kind of dog who would thrive with a big yard to wander, leisurely walks, and plenty of time to just be.

Lewis is a quiet observer. He’ll be calmly interested in whatever you’re doing, and suddenly you’ll look over and find him sitting right beside you, staring up at you with those soft puppy eyes. He’s not much of a barker, though he can be a little whiny when nervous—car rides start with a bit of protest before he settles.

He’s still working on coming when called (currently the least reliable of the two ), and if it’s time to go inside, he may need to be picked up—Clark will follow automatically once Lew does. Lewis is also in his “taste-test everything” phase, with bark being a current favorite snack, so supervision is important.

One of his most endearing traits? The bounce. When Lewis gets excited, he hops like a little gummy bear, and it’s almost unfair how adorable it is.

Lewis is learning his basics—he sits well, is working on “down” and “wait,” and gets very enthusiastic when treats are involved. Crate training is going fantastic, and he may actually be the best of the two when it comes to settling in. Potty training is progressing slowly, but he’s starting to have accidents closer to the door, which is a great sign. He understands the daily schedule, often waiting near the door around mealtime or outdoor breaks.

He has lovely food manners and does especially well respecting the older dogs during dinner time. Of the two brothers, Lewis may be the better candidate for a home with cats—he’s gentle, calm, and more reserved.

Lewis is an easygoing, simple, sweet companion—perfect for someone looking for a gentle soul to grow alongside.

Additional adoption info

The Furry Farm Rescue Adoption process:

For Dogs:
When you find an animal you would like to find out more about and meet, please go fill out our adoption application. With review of your application we check references and speak to your veterinarian. During that process we will also schedule a time for you to come meet and get to know your new furry friend. If you have other animals, we will want to do some intros at that time. We then ask you take a few days to think about it and let us know. We will then come to your house and do a final meet and greet before finalizing the adoption. All adopters sign a contract with the Furry Farm Rescue. All of our adoptions come with a 2 week trial period. This allows you to and your new furry friend some time to bond and know if this is a forever family.

Our Adoption fees vary between $100-350 for dogs. Each dogs fee will be listed in their biography.

More about this rescue

Our promise to our animals: We will love and protect you, provide an enriching and nurturing foster home, care for all your medical needs, give you the structure and training needed for success, and above all; treat you as our own while you are with us.

Our promise to our community: We will work together, we will be kind and considerate, we will educate, we will advocate, we will serve.

We are a small rescue established in 2017 to serve North Idaho and surrounding vicinity. The farm hands bring rescue and animal welfare together with a focus on our local community needs. Furry Farm concentrates on those most at risk, be it their medical needs, background, or baggage. We are not a high volume rescue, instead specializing in doing acute care, long term recovery and rehabilitation. We operate as volunteer only, with all of our animals in the care of foster volunteers at their residence. There is no "farm" or building to come visit animals at this time and all of our services start with the application process found on this website.

The Furry Farm Rescue's Mission is to save dogs most at risk in our local shelter systems: be it medical, seniors or puppies and provide them with a safe environment to thrive again.

If you have questions, need assistance, or are interested in getting involved please check out thefurryfarmrescue.org
