My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Douglas

Douglas is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s still learning that the world can be a safe place. He’s a fearful cat who needs slow, patient adopters—the kind of people who understand that trust is something earned over time, not rushed.

Douglas may never be a cuddly, lap-loving cat, and that’s okay. What he can be is a quiet companion who shows his appreciation in subtle ways: choosing to stay in the same room, relaxing a little more each day, or peeking out to observe from a safe distance. These small victories mean everything to him.

He would do best in a calm, predictable home with adults or older, cat-savvy teens, where his boundaries are respected and expectations are gentle. A consistent routine, cozy hiding spots, and adopters who celebrate progress—no matter how small—will help Douglas feel secure.

If you believe love doesn’t have to be loud or cuddly to be real, and you have the patience to let Douglas be exactly who he is, he may be the perfect companion for you.
