My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there… my name is Nougat

I’m a 5-year-old gentleman with a soft heart and an even softer lap-curling technique. I came to the shelter when I wasn’t feeling very well, but good news—I’m doing much better now! The humans say I should work on losing a little weight, but I prefer to think of it as having extra cuddle potential.

I’m a friendly guy, but I’ll be honest: loud noises make me nervous. The shelter can be a scary place, so when things get too noisy, I like to hide my face away and pretend the world doesn’t exist. If you catch me doing that, don’t worry—I’m just being brave in my own way.

Here’s the secret, though: if you offer me some gentle, soft pets, I’ll slowly peek back out. Before you know it, I’ll be thanking you with quiet little meows and settling in close. A calm, quiet home is my dream—somewhere I can relax, curl up on your lap, and finally enjoy the peaceful life I’ve been waiting for.

If you’re looking for a sweet companion who will appreciate every kind touch and every calm moment, I think we might be perfect for each other.

Love,
Nougat

More about this shelter

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City.
