Meet Toad (Yes, like the amphibian… and yes, he lives up to the name!) Toad is a calm, sweet, and wonderfully mellow boy who’s ready for a fresh start and a soft place to land. Despite a challenging past, Toad has shown nothing but resilience, kindness, and a quiet desire to just be safe. This gentle guy is great on leash, rides like a dream in the car, and has an easygoing nature that makes him a joy to spend time with. He does well with most other dogs and would thrive in a peaceful home—especially one with older, respectful children who understand how to give a dog space and love. Toad is currently heartworm positive, but the good news is his treatment will be fully covered, and he’s already on the path to healing. Because of treatment, he will need strict activity restriction for a period of time—short, leashed potty breaks only and lots of rest. Luckily, being mellow is kind of his thing. Now, a fun (and important) fact about Toad: This little guy is talented. Like, Olympic-level fence climbing talented. Toad has been known to scale even an 8-foot kennel, so a secure home setup is a must. He is currently being crate trained and is doing well, but he will need to continue going outside on leash only. Toad’s previous situation was unstable, and he’s more than earned the chance to experience consistency, patience, and love. He doesn’t ask for much—just a calm environment, a comfy crate, and someone who sees past the bumps in his story to the incredibly good dog he is. If you’re looking for a low-key companion with a heart of gold, a very knack for climbing (we suggest not encouraging this), and a name you’ll never forget—Toad might just hop right into your heart.
