My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carly!

Carly is a 2-year-old dog who's had a challenging time recently. She was surrendered after her previous owner faced some difficult circumstances and could no longer provide the care she needed for her hip and back leg issues. Carly will be getting her TPLO surgery soon and will need some time to recover, but with the right care, we're confident she'll be back on her feet and ready for a pain-free future.

Carly is a shy girl at first, and it may take her a little while to warm up to new people. But once she feels comfortable, she's incredibly loyal and will stick by your side. She loves to cuddle, and while she's still adjusting, she's got a sweet and quiet presence that's sure to make her a cherished companion. Carly also enjoys being outside and playing, though she's taking it easy right now as she focuses on healing.

Carly will need a calm and patient home where she can feel safe and loved as she recovers. Once she's fully healed, we believe she'll be the kind of dog who's always by your side, ready to enjoy life and share a strong bond with her new family.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
