My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

East TN, Out of state not an option unless you can come to Athens TN.
Betty White’s Story

Meet Betty White. She and seven others have come to us at Pet Path from a serious hoarding situation out of Bradley county TN. They were not socialized with people at all but we have gotten them to come a long way. They now come for a few scratches and scratches. They love to come inside to sleep in their crate and be out all day. We just had to give each of the seven jacks super fun names to go with their super fun personalities. So she is Betty White because she is super sweet and the front of this little pack keeping things in order. She’s the first one to run up for chin scratches and loves to be in the center of everything. She’s pretty confident once she knows you and she is the little leader of this group of girls. She calls the shots here and the rest follow. She is really not so much a misfit we just think the names are fun. This little gal is begging to trust and be loved. She’s silly and sweet and will blossom in a home of her own. She came from a hoarding situation with several others and has taken some time to adjust to human interaction but she has come a really long way. She is not fond of being picked up but she does come close enough for booty scritches and scratches. She will also. often give you kisses. She is a Jack Russell mix with what we aren’t sure. She is very curious about everything and likes to know what’s going on and be in the center of it all, all the time.
She will need a fenced yard and she may be a flight risk ant first til she knows you. She will need to be monitored when opening doors that are not leading out to a fenced yard area to make sure she does not escape. She’s a great gal that needs someone to give her time and patience to learn her new home and routine. She is crate trained and will sleep through the night. She does very well inside and will not potty unless you don’t let her out often enough she doesn’t quite know how to tell you she has to go potty but she does prefer to do it outside.
Be sure you know the breed as Jacks are highly energetic, mischievous and can be devious little pups but they are also wonderful companions. That are also excellent rodent control. Forget the cat get yourself one of these and they will eradicate any vermin you may have. We have seen them do it and they are relentless about their job. Any of these girls would be happy on a farm if they have dog companions. Adopt two of them for maximum entertainment!

More about this rescue

WHY & HOW
Let us start off by telling you the “WHY” and how we set out on this mission. We rescued our first fur-kid from the side of the road several years ago and she turned out to be the best companion we could ever hope for. She was homeless, abandoned, dumped on the side of the road and left to fend for herself in order to survive. As heartbreaking as it is, the realization hit us that this sadly is not uncommon. We later decided to find her a playmate and searched the databases for her new friend and that is when we were hit hard with the fact that there were literally thousands of dogs that needed to be saved! We believe in our hearts that no pet should ever have to face being forgotten, unwanted and unloved. We dream that one day we won’t be needed and that all humans will see these beautiful souls for what they are….. love in the purest form. It is our job to make this happen.
PET PATH’S MISSION
Our mission is to save the lives of the healthy and friendly dogs that are homeless, abused, abandoned or on death row at a kill shelter. We save them through a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care to find good matches for both the dogs and the potential adopters. We educate the adopters on the responsibility and potential costs of their new family member prior to adoption commitment. This is necessary to ensure these dogs are placed in loving fur-ever homes and are never left in the same position we rescue them from.
WE’RE A NOT FOR PROFIT PROGRAM
We are an all-volunteer, home based, foster based, certified 501(c)(3) dog rescue/placement organization based in South East Tennessee. We operate with the use of our own personal home as fosters to each of our rescued pets, by utilizing approved foster homes, networking with several local rescues, shelters and transports, by using social media and web related databases and of course at our adoption event/expos.. Part of our mission is to establish strong trusting relationships with other rescue groups so that we can network together to save more lives.
PET PATH IN THE COMMUNITY
We also serve our community by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on the need for spaying and neutering. We keep the community informed of local spay and neuter options. Every single one of our dogs are spayed or neutered before being adopted.
RE-HOMING SERVICES
We will offer a re-homing service to the public to encourage them to foster and keep their own pets until we find them a new home. This will keep them out of the shelters and increase their chance for a healthy happy life.
THE UNDER DOG
The majority of our dogs come from numerous animal control shelters in the southeast region of Tennessee. We strive to save the forgotten ones, the ones that no one comes for, the ones that become urgent because their time has run out. We are committed to providing the dogs that come into Pet Path with the best possible care while they wait for their fur-ever homes. We do this by acclimating them to life outside of a shelter and providing them with appropriate veterinary care. We do not euthanize healthy friendly pets for space, we work against that completely. Because we do not kill, we unfortunately cannot accept all dogs if we do not have the resources or fosters necessary to provide adequate care for them.
We strive to work with everyone that wants to become part of the solution that is necessary to end the killing, abuse and neglect our dogs and many other pets endure.
