My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

* Note: Bendi currently lives with a cat in a foster home in Toronto and is waiting for his forever home.

Background: Bendi and his brother, Solae, were rescued this spring from a city pound in Milyang, Korea. They lived at our boarding house with other dogs until they left Korea. Bendi is now in a foster home in Toronto, where he is living peacefully alongside a cat.

Personality and Socialization: Bendi is a gentle, quiet and mellow boy. He has a lovely medium energy, playful and lively, but not overwhelming. He loves being around people and enjoys cuddles and attention.

Bendi also gets along very well with other dogs, especially small and friendly ones who like to play. He walks away from dogs that are bossy, dominant, or loud. Bendi is good with cats and is loving and sweet little baby.

Behaviour: Bendi has been doing well with car rides and has shown great manners during vet visits and baths. The vet staff have even complimented him for being so easy to handle. He uses both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty spaces. While he’s still new to leash walking, he’s learning, and his future family should be ready to continue his training with patience and positive reinforcement.

Bendi also enjoys playing with toys and can entertain himself or engage in fun playtime with other dogs.

Health and Diet: Bendi is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations. His parasite tests came back clear, and he receives monthly prevention. He eats dry kibble and has shown no allergies. He recently had a full veterinary checkup and is healthy and ready for his forever home.

Ideal Home: Bendi is a sweet, smart, and loving puppy who will thrive in a home where he feels supported and safe. He’s still learning about the world, so his adopter should be patient, understanding, and committed to helping him grow.

Because he’s still young, we’re looking for a home where someone has a flexible schedule and can be with him most of the time. Leaving a young dog alone for long hours can be tough on them, especially during this important adjustment period. A person who works from home or is retired would be a wonderful match. With the right love and guidance, Bendi will grow into a loyal, gentle, and joyful companion.

More about this rescue

Free Korean Dogs is a registered charity founded in 2015 with the mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever-loving homes for dogs saved from the Korean dog meat trade.

We divide our mission across three basic pillars: rescue, adopt, and engage. Since 2015, we’ve made huge advances in all three areas, shutting down three dog meat farm operations, facilitating the adoption of 1,800 rescue dogs, and launching Freedom Walk, our annual event to raise public awareness about the Korean dog meat trade:

RESCUE
Our organization has made significant strides in rescuing dogs from the dog meat trade, high-kill shelters and other high-risk conditions in Korea. We shut down dog meat farms and liberated over 500 dogs from unbearable suffering and despair.

ADOPT
Through our unwavering commitment, we have found forever-loving homes for more than 1,800 dogs rescued from brutal circumstances. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to rehabilitate these animals and find them a new life filled with love and care.

ENGAGE
Our mission extends beyond rescue and adoption; we are dedicated to building a compassionate community. Through educational campaigns and events, we engage with individuals and organizations to create a cultural shift from cruelty to compassion.
